Is Nick Chubb ahead of schedule? Kirby Smart seems to think he is.

Most of you have seen the recent video of Nick Chubb attacking a treadmill like he was in midseason form.

Apparently, looks were not deceiving.

On Tuesday, head coach Kirby Smart said the junior running back is doing better with his rehab than many expected he would.

“This guy is working tremendously hard,” Smart said. “He is dead on schedule and if you ask Ron he’s probably a little bit ahead of schedule as far as what we expect of him.”

But here’s the really promising news.

“He started doing a little bit of cutting since we’ve been back,” Smart said of Chubb, who suffered the injury in Georgia’s loss at Tennessee.

“He will not be involved in any team drills throughout spring, but we’re excited about where he is and he’s progressed really well,” Smart added. “He is a kid, obviously he overachieves anyway, but he’s overachieving in rehab as well.”

But Smart made it clear there is no timetable for his return.

“That’s hard to say. He’s on schedule to where he needs to be right now,” Smart said. “I’m not forecasting forward that we will be 100 percent come fall camp. We’ve got determine that as we go.”
