Fromm Flips from Tide to Dawgs

Almost five months ago, Houston County quarterback Jake Fromm announced his commitment to the University of Alabama. At that time, the home state Georgia Bulldogs had not offered, and already had a quarterback committed in the Class of 2017 in the form of McEachern's Bailey Hockman.

A lot has changed since that moment. Former Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt was let go, and Kirby Smart was hired as his replacement. One of the first recruiting moves by Smart and new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney was to offer the Rivals100 Crimson Tide quarterback commit.

"I talked to Coach [Jim] Chaney and Coach Smart," Fromm told UGASports.com back in December following his offer. "They just talked about Georgia, getting moved in, and a lot of good stuff."

The new staff visited the No. 54 rated prospect twice during the of December and January.

Last week, Fromm made his first visit up to Georgia since making his Alabama commitment public. Fromm and his father spent around eight hours on campus with Chaney and Smart last Thursday. He and his father then took the trip to Alabama over the weekend, but were back in Athens yesterday afternoon.

After comparing the two school extensively over the last week, Fromm notified the Bulldogs coaching staff during his visit on Wednesday his intentions to commit to the University of Georgia. He confirmed the news to UGASports on Thursday.

Houston County coach Mike Chastain told UGASports, "We are very excited for Jake and our program."

The Bulldogs landed the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2016 in Jacob Eason, and now have the No. 3 pro-style quarterback committed for the Class of 2017.
