One of the worst-kept secrets finally became official Wednesday morning when five-star Mecole Hardman chose Georgia over a host of other schools.

The Elbert County standout had professed Alabama to be his leader for the past few weeks, but when it came time to make is decision, Hardman picked the Bulldogs during a ceremony at his school.

How big is Hardman’s decision?

For one, his decision marks the first time that Georgia has signed three five-star prospects in the same year, joining quarterback Jacob Eason and tight end Isaac Nauta, who are already in school as early enrollees.

He might not be the last.

Georgia is also in contention for a number of other five-star performers, including defensive tackle Derrick Brown and wide receiver Demetris Robertson, who is expected to visit Georgia this weekend before supposedly making his announcement next week.

A versatile performer, Hardman starred on both sides of the ball for Elbert County, and could ultimately get a chance to do both for the Bulldogs, along with serving as return man on kickoffs and punts.
