Nation's No. 1 wide receiver talks Georgia

Five-star wide receiver Trevon Grimes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) recently gave UGASports an update on his recruitment and his interest in the Georgia Bulldogs.

UGASports: You recently released your top six. Who was it?

Grimes: “Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia and Alabama.”

UGASports: What put Georgia in there?

Grimes: “They fit the kind of person I am. I want to build a better connection with Coach [James] Coley. I feel like he has a lot to offer me. I feel like Georgia has a lot to offer me and I feel like I could be a good player at Georgia. I could see myself at Georgia. I want to build a better connection with Coach Coley and see if we spark something.”

UGASports: Were you planning on visiting Georgia before the Five Star Challenge?

Grimes: “Yeah, I wanted to but the timing just didn’t work out. I definitely want to get back up here and visit sometime over the summer.”

UGASports: What do you want to see at Georgia?

Grimes: “Honestly, I’m not that familiar with their program. I just know what Coach Coley has said. He said he can mold me into the receiver I want to be and has talked about playing time and stuff like that. He said Georgia has phenomenal facilities and atmosphere, and that’s one of the things I personally love. One of the things I’m looking forward to when I get up there is just meeting the whole coaching staff, seeing the facilities, and seeing if I’m comfortable like I’m at home.”

UGASports: What would it take to make you feel at home?

Grimes: “For me, it would just be having the coaches embrace me like not as a recruit but as like one of their players, and not just the little picture of me playing for them for four years but how they would mold me as a man and in life.”

UGASports: What’s your typical day like? You have coaches all over the country recruiting you. What’s it been like?

Grimes: “It’s been a mess. I can’t even check my twitter messages anymore because I get so many direct messages. Sometimes coaches and reporters get agitated because I don't hit them back and I just have to tell them my twitter alerts are off and I don’t always check my direct messages but once every week or every other week.”

UGASports: What’s your timeline going forward?

Grimes: “I feel like I’m probably going to get this wrapped up by the end of the summer just because I want to focus on my team and my coaches and my school and help them win a state championship before I go off next year. I want to give back to the school that’s given so much to me.”
