BEAVERTON, Oregon - Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee landed his first commitment since being appointed to the position, as Rivals250 ball carrier Toneil Carter pledged his services today during his trip to Nike's The Opening in Beaverton, Oregon.

"It feels amazing" Carter said after his announcement. "All the fans afterwards and everyone afterwards just made me feel even more great."

Carter, a 6-foot-1, 200 pound running back out of Langham Creek High School in Houston, Texas, was highly prioritized by the former Georgia staff, most notably Thomas Brown.

McGee, a former Georgia Southern staffer hired by Kirby Smart, picked up where Brown left off in the pursuit of Carter.

"One thing I can say [about McGee], if he wants you he is going to get you," Carter said. "He is a great recruiter and as a coach he seems like a great one. He hasn't had the chance to coach me up yet, but I plan to get a lot of it."

Carter told UGASports he has known whee he was headed "for a couple months now."

"After my visit, my family said they loved it," Carter said. "I had an awesome time there. Once my family said they loved it and that they would follow me in my choice, I just felt that was the perfect place for me."

Pulling a running back from Texas is no little feat. Especially an early enrollee.

"When it is time to play, it doesn't matter if you are in Texas or Georgia," Carter said. "It is what it is."

The nation's No. 14 ranked running back according to the Rivals250, Carter is one of two prospects the Bulldogs hope to bring in during the 2017 cycle to offset the likely loss of Nick Chubb and/or Sony Michel to the NFL draft.

Cam Akers, D'Andre Swift, and Alabama commit Najee Harris are among the names the Bulldogs will target to join Carter in Athens.

Carter plans to take three official visits, making trips to Georgia, Texas A& M and LSU.

"I am 100% committed," Carter said. "I haven't talked to Cam [Akers], but I have talked to D'Andre [Swift] a little bit. He is a pretty cool dude."

As for what Carter wants the Georgia faithful to know, the top tailback said simply:

"I have a lot in store for them."
