The final plan for Robertson? UGA scheduled for visit once again

Add another layer of intrigue to the Demetris Robertson saga, as older brother and legal guardian Carlos Robertson confirmed Tuesday that the unsigned five-star athlete has a trip to Athens on his schedule for a third time.

It will be of the official variety.

Robertson, who cancelled a planned visit to Georgia just last weekend in favor of seeing Alabama, has set the date for March 18-20.

"We'll come up on that Friday. That will make the most sense," Carlos Robertson said. in a telephone interview with UGASports.com "We'll come up that Friday and leave that Sunday."

Robertson confirmed that his brother spoke with Bulldog head coach Kirby Smart Monday about the impending visit.

According to Robertson, Demetris and his family (including his mom) will not only meet with Smart, but expect to also see UGA president Jere Morehead, along with others in Georgia's engineering department.

"Yeah, that’s the deal. He wants us to speak with those guys," Carlos Robertson said. "We also just want to see his (Smart's) vision of how things football wise and him being under (Nick) Saban. He'll (Smart) have things whupped in shape from the football standpoint but we want to see things from the academic side to see how Demetrius would get set up after this football thing ends."

Assuming Robertson does come to visit Athens, that would leave the Stanford Cardinal out of the picture, in terms of official visits, but the Robertson family explained that they 'know what Stanford has to offer' and have deemed the official visit unnecessary.

Robertson has already taken official visits to Alabama, Notre Dame, California and Georgia Tech.

According to Carlos Robertson, the coaches from all five of his brother's finalists continue to be very understanding of the way the family is handling his recruitment.

"No, they understand, man..I haven’t seen any of that," Robertson said. "They know it’s his future and he only gets one bit at the apple. The bite’s got to be worthwhile, you don’t want to spit anything back out. They fully understand that."

Tuesday night, Carlos Robertson still did not rule out Demetris taking an unofficial visit out to Palo Alto. He also did not put a timetable on when a decision might be made and said that Demetrius is expected to sign a financial aid package with the school of his choice.

He will re-take the SAT again this Saturday, but those results will not be available until May.

The top-ranked player without a football home in 2016, Robertson has created quite a stir amongst Georgia fans and others for his fluid and rapidly changing plans.

Another twist to the story comes in the form of Robertson's sister Shanetris, who was originally supposed to early enroll for a track scholarship at Alabama A&M, but Carlos Robertson said the plan is for the two to attend the same school.

"That's the plan," Robertson said. "Right now she's just training, but right now that's what we're going to try and do."

UGASports.com will continue to monitor Robertson's plans and will work to further confirm his visit closer to the expected date, so stay tuned.
