Will Dawgs break out the black for 2016? Smart weighs in

Will the Bulldogs wear back jerseys this fall? Kirby Smart weighed in on Monday. (Special)

ATLANTA - Fans love black jerseys and apparently recruits do as well.

During the recent Kirby Smart camp, players on campus took to Twitter, taking pictures of themselves posing in the black tops/

Monday night, Smart was non-committal when asked about that possibility. But he didn’t rule it out.

“We’ll see. It’s nothing that’s been finalized yet and I think there’s a lot of energy around that and excitement,” Smart said. “But I’ve always been one that your energy and excitement should be focused on who you’re playing, not what you’re wearing.”

It’s no surprise the Bulldog coach would feel this way.

Ironically, the last time Georgia wore the black jerseys, Smart and Alabama won 41-30 in Athens after falling behind 31-0 at the half.

Prior to that, the last time Georgia wore black was the 2008 Sugar Bowl against Hawaii, after debuting the jerseys in the 2008 contest against Auburn.
